I support original bases. Bases made from referencing/using stock images are fine too, as long as they don't break the stock-provider's rules.
This applies to both pixel bases and drawn bases.
Conversely, I do not support (and am highly annoyed by) traced bases. This is not referring to bases made from stock images, as I pointed out above. Nor does it apply to cases where an artist has given specific permission for this to occur. This refers to bases that are made by tracing from a copyrighted not-for-everyone's-use artwork without permission from the original artist. The sources for the tracing are animation screen captures, manga/comic scans, official franchise artwork, and random fanart or original artwork that has been displayed on the web.
I am most disgusted by the folks who either 1) trace an image and don't admit/acknowledge the original source at all or 2) provide a link to the "original picture" as "credit", but it is an image hosted on a Photobucket account (or some other random site) with no mention of the original artist. [Protip: The image uploader is, 99% of the time, not the original artist.] Although, please note, properly crediting the source of your traced base does not make it any less of a terrible thing to do to an artist, professional and amateur alike.
There are some stamps around dA that I like the message of, but I don't like the style/appearance of the stamp. So I've decided to recreate them.
The above stamp was inspired by this stamp.

Thank-you! This was just the stamp I was looking for. So many stamps that are anti-trace are anti-base too which is kind of sad since I love making bases, I even learned a lot about colour and shading from filling them in when I first started out with digital art too
